Emergency Plan

Please take the time to review the Emergency procedures that have been established for Oak Knoll.  Here is a quick check-list in the event of an emergency.  Please print this out and keep it somewhere safe.

In the event of an emergency

  1. Remain CALM.  Your children are being well taken care of at school.  The school has first aid supplies as well as emergency food and water for up to 72 hours.

  2. PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE SCHOOL. Phones will be needed for emergency information.  Tune into your local radio or TV channels for emergency information broadcast from the school district.

  3. If it is safe to do so, drive to school to pick up your child, and park on the surrounding streets near school.  Please do NOT park in the school parking lot or driveways.  We need to keep this area clear for emergency vehicles.  Do not rush, we will care for your children until they are picked up.

  4. Bring your ID.  ID will be required unless you are already familiar to the adults in charge of release.  We can only release your child to the adults designated on your emergency information card.

  5. There will only be one location from which students will be released.   Proceed carefully and calmly to the designated Student Release Area – there will be signs throughout the school directing you to the pick-up location.

  6. We need to release students in an orderly and calm manner and we need your help to manage the situation. We need to record who picked up each student as well as the time of pick-up, so please do not take your child without checking him/ her out.

  7. If you’re able to stay and help, please check in with school personnel to see where you are needed.
